Veterans of London’s media scene are set to propel this year’s Jack Richardson London Music Awards as hosts. The JRLMA Steering Committee is proud to announce that Cheryl Weedmark, Sarah Burke and Derek Rogers will team up to host the Awards Gala on April 17 at the London Music Hall. Show producer Alexandra Kane said she is “proud to have two talented women host the event.” Former CTV reporter Derek Rogers will round out the team.
“All three hosts have a passion for local music and to be able to bring their talents to the awards show is a big score for us and the audience,” said Mario Circelli, JRLMA Chair.
Cheryl Weedmark is a seasoned journalist, communicator, marketer and community leader. Many Londoners will remember Cheryl as morning show host on The New PL/A- Channel/CTV Morning for several years. Originally from Ottawa, Cheryl is a Journalism graduate from Fanshawe College and post graduate in the Television Broadcast program. She currently works as a video producer for London Life Insurance and is Mom to five-year-old son, Oliver. Cheryl is an active volunteer in our community and a big supporter of local music.
Sarah Burke is the Afternoon Drive show host on FM96. In addition to hosting duties she works in the station’s music department. Sarah discovered the London music scene early on while completing a joint degree and diploma program at Western University in the Media Information and Technoculture program and broadcast Journalism at Fanshawe College. Burke is a London music scene supporter, attending as many live shows as possible and providing airtime to bands on her show.
Originally from British Columbia, Derek began his broadcast journalism career in the Sault in 1988. He worked in radio and TV as both a reporter and anchor. Derek was part of an award-winning news team at A-Channel/CTV London. He has always been a supporter of “indie music” and believes London’s music scene is one of the strongest in Canada. Derek currently works in communications.
